Richard “Rich” Donald Givens, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away peacefully on Sept. 29, 2024, in Seattle, Washington, after a courageous one-year battle against metastatic melanoma. He was 58 years old.

Born on Jan. 4, 1966, in Centralia, Washington, Rich eventually settled in Cinebar, Washington, where he built a farm with his family, and a life filled with love, joy and countless cherished memories. He was the devoted husband of Adrienne Givens for 36 years, the proud father of five: Brittany Hancock, Garrett Hancock (Ashley Hancock), Sierra Griffith, Hailey Steele (Kolby Steele) and Regan Givens (Michael Renfro), and brother to Kelly Albert (Dave Albert).

Rich adored his nine grandchildren: Alannah Hancock, Brayden Griffith, Kabrien Redmon, Paxten Hancock, Kamiakin Hancock, Aubrie Steele, Chloe Steele, Paislie Steele and Eli Bordwell. Rich was preceded in death by his mother, Juley Givens (Teeter), father, James "Donnie" Givens, and brother, Rodney Givens.

With a full heart of adventure, Rich embraced life with endless energy. In his youth, he found joy in racing sailboats, inventing games with his siblings and cousins, and exploring the outdoors through hunting, fishing and four-wheeling.

In his final moments, surrounded by his loving family, Rich’s humor, wisdom and strength shone brighter than ever. He cherished every moment spent with those he loved, his heart full of passion for his family, farm, windsurfing, sailing, creating and the craft of being a machinist. His memory will forever be woven into the lives he touched.

For over 40 years, Rich was a master machinist, lending his incredible skill to Gear Works, Mega Machine Shop, CalPortland and Alta Forest Products. His innovation, unwavering dedication and tireless work ethic were admired by all who knew him, and his legacy of knowledge and craftsmanship will never be forgotten.

To commemorate his incredible journey and to celebrate the love he spread, a celebration of life will be held in his honor at the Mossyrock Horse and Riders Club, 114 Ciannigan Hill Road, Silver Creek, Washington, on Oct. 13, 2024, from 3-6 p.m. We invite all who knew him to join us in remembering a truly remarkable man.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to the Mike Rowe Works Foundation at https://mikeroweworks.org/donate/.
