In loving memory of Susan Marie Richert: April 26, 1955 - Sept. 27, 2024

Susan Marie Richert died peacefully at age 69 during the early Friday morning hours in Shoreline, Washington, on Sept. 27.

Susan is survived by her brother, Steve Richert (Margo), of Beaverton, Oregon; niece, Jenny Hammer; and nephew, Matthew Richert. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, William (Bill) and Lena Richert; and sisters, Kathryn Warner and Patricia Richert. 

Susan was educated at St. Joseph's School and W.F. West High School in Chehalis, received a degree from Centralia College and graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in biology at Central Washington University in Ellensburg. She first worked several years at the Woodland Zoo in Seattle as both a cashier and zookeeper. In later years, she was associated with two social service organizations in King County, AGAPE and NAMI, dedicating her life to serving others, focusing on troubled youth and families dealing with homelessness and mental health issues. In addition, her activities with various churches further expanded her attention to both religious and charitable matters. 

A memorial for Susan Richert will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at the Bethany Community Church, 8023 Greenlake Drive N. in Seattle. Donations in her honor should be made to Shoreline Health and Rehabilitation Center, to NAMI Seattle or to the King County Humane Society.
