In loving memory of Rob A. Moore II: 1973-2023

Posted

Having fought the good fight while keeping the faith, Robert Alfred “Rob” Moore II finished his watch on Oct. 16, 2023, in the arms of his wife, Brenda, at the UW Medical Center, comforted by family, co-workers and friends.

Rob was born in the naval hospital in Agana, Guam to Rachel (Overman) Moore Gray and the late Robert Alfred Moore on July 26, 1973. Graduating from Olympia High School in Greece, New York, Rob went on to proudly serve our country for over 22 years, first with the United States Navy, then with the Washington State National Guard. Working in intelligence, Rob saw deployments to Iraq and Kuwait during his honorable military career.

Pursuing a lifelong dream to work in law enforcement and leading with a true servant heart, Rob began his 20+ year career with the Washington Highway Patrol in March 2002. While working, Rob attended Columbia College, where he received his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration in 2020.

Rob loved snow skiing, target shooting with his wife, Brenda, dancing, singing, cooking, camping, drinking whiskey and music, especially the tunes of the Beach Boys. Riding the roads on his Harley was also a passion of Rob’s, and though he loved his motorcycle, his pride and joy was his 2006 Dodge Charger. With all original parts, he kept his car in pristine condition.

Vibrant and full of energy, Rob had a genuine love for people. He could strike up a conversation with anyone, always finding something in common to discuss. He was a man of integrity and compassion, and his concern for others drew him to participate in the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, where he could offer his time helping other veterans.

A memorial service to honor Rob’s service and life will be held at the Bethel Church, 132 Kirkland Road, Chehalis, Washington, at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2023. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation following the service.

Rob is survived by his wife, Brenda Moore; mother, Rachel Moore Gray, and husband, Ron; brother, Pat Moore; stepdaughter, Angelica Phillips; his beloved mastiff, Ginger; and his fellow officers and veterans and countless friends.

Our family would ask that in lieu of flowers, donations in Rob’s name can be made to the Washington State Patrol Memorial Foundation, P.O. Box 901, Prosser, WA 99356 https://www.wspmf.org/. This fund provides assistance to active and retired Washington State Patrol employees and their families in times of need. Arrangements are entrusted to Newell-Hoerling’s Mortuary, Chehalis.

In Rob’s honor, do something good for someone, adopt a shelter pet, plant a tree and love deeply.
