In loving memory of Denise Macomber: 1957-2024

Posted

Denise Mahealani (Wasson) Macomber passed from this earth into the arms of her Savior and her faith was made sight on April 16, 2024, in Chehalis, Washington, at the age of 66.

She was born on Aug. 18, 1957, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Hank and Joanna (Ho) Wasson and grew up there surrounded by family, including her uncles, aunties and cousins. After graduating from McKinley High School, Denise was employed at Woolworths, Household Finance and then Admiral Exchange. When she married and moved to Chehalis, she worked at Central Evergreen Savings and Loan.

Denise met Randy Macomber in July of 1980 and they were married in Honolulu on Feb. 19, 1983. She was a devoted wife to Randy for over 41 years, supporting him in various endeavors, including years of church and youth ministry, as well as home remodels and building projects. She dedicated much of her life to being a stay-at-home mom to raise their family of five children.

Throughout her life, Denise enjoyed sewing, canning, gardening and cooking new culinary dishes from diverse cultures. Denise and Randy had the chance to travel internationally, vacation to Hawaii to visit family and always enjoyed shopping trips to their favorite ethnic markets in Portland and Seattle. Denise also enjoyed volunteering and assisting family and friends in need.

The most important life decision Denise ever made was to give her life to the Lord in her younger years, and that gave her a peace and hope that carried her through all her life. She worshiped at Apostolic Faith Churches, first in Honolulu, Hawaii, then with Randy and her family in Chehalis, Washington, Dallas, Oregon, and Woodlake, California.

She is survived by her loving husband, Randy; and their children, Dana (Josh) DeBusk, Shana (Greg) Bishop, Derek (Suzy) Macomber, Seth (Emilee) Macomber and Tyler Macomber. Denise was also a cherished grandmother to Olivia, Judah and Zoey. She was preceded in death by her mother, Joanna Lum, and her father, Hank Wasson, and is survived by sisters, Sheryl (Nephi) Kaonohi, Allyson (Kekai) Kahalepuna and Rozlyn Mansinon; brothers, Hank (Lara) Wasson Jr., Harry (Joan) Wasson, and Henny (Genevieve) Wasson. She is also survived by Aunties, Rose Ho, Deborah (Vernon) Thornley and Avaline Ho, and Uncle Michael (Cass) Ho.

A memorial service in honor of Denise will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 25, at Apostolic Faith Church, 196 NW Cascade Ave., Chehalis, Washington. All are welcome.

Denise will be remembered for her dedication to the Lord, her husband and family, her compassion for others, and her perseverance amid life's trials.
