Late Evergreen goal downs Rochester

The Rochester girls soccer team seemed like it would snag a draw against 3A Evergreen, but a late goal handed the Warriors a 1-0 loss.

“Overall, we controlled the game,” Rochester coach Matt Ashton said. “We had more opportunities than we did, we just couldn’t finish it.”

Though the late goal was disappointing, Ashton was pleased with the way the Warriors battled against a tough opponent, especially considering that they had lost to Eatonville by four just two days earlier.

“Coming off that loss to playing a 3A school and going down to the wire with them,” Ashton said. “It’s a great turnaround and it shows what we could be.”

The Warriors (0-2) will go for their first win on Monday at Onalaska.
