Letter to the editor: I understand the importance of reliable, low-cost energy

Posted

As a farmer and partner in The Farm Store, I understand the importance of reliable low-cost energy.  As a Lewis County Public Utility District commissioner, low rates and reliable service will always be my highest priorities.

In farming, the buyer sets the product price. In retailing, the seller sets the price, and the buyer can choose whether to buy.  PUD customers are in the same boat as the farmer. There is a set price, and the customer has little choice.  It is therefore imperative for the PUD commissioners do their best in keeping rates as low as is reasonable.

The current PUD commissioners have endorsed me for the open position because I share their viewpoint of maintaining reliable service at the lowest reasonable cost for PUD customers.

I have served as an officer on several local and state boards.  Two current ones are the Lewis Conservation District working on flood reduction and the SW Washington Growers Co-op finding markets for area agriculture.  That board and business experience will serve me well in representing the PUD customers.

I would appreciate your vote for PUD commissioner, District 2.
