Letter to the editor: Joe Kent is the same bad candidate who lost to Gluesenkamp Perez in 2022

Posted

Two years after his upset loss to Marie Gluesenkamp Perez in the last Third District congressional election, Joe Kent still has not grasped the reason for his loss.

Put simply, the district would not elect a candidate whose lack of personal independence suggested a lack of political integrity. Kent campaigned as a clone of Donald Trump, a doormat, in effect, and was rightly defeated.

Nor has Kent’s political persona improved in the years since. He continues to idolize Trump, even though the former president was twice impeached and is now a convicted felon.

For reasons difficult to identify but easy to conjecture, Trump is frightened of Vladimir Putin.  The ex-president will not criticize the Russian despot for anything, under any circumstance, no matter what. This includes even the catastrophic, genocidal invasion of Ukraine and the murder in a Russian  prison of the heroic dissident, Alexei Navalny.

And as Trump kowtows to Putin, so, too, does Kent kowtow to Trump.

The congressional hopeful mimics Trump in demanding an abrupt end to American assistance to Ukraine, never mind that this would reward and embolden Putin, endanger all of eastern Europe, and eviscerate NATO.

Shadows of the Sudetenland appeasement and World War II.

So tell us, Joe, where would the negotiations with Putin take place? Munich?
