The Onalaska volleyball team got off to a slow start on Monday in Morton, but the Loggers quickly recovered and came away with a 25-23, 25-13, 25-19 sweep over Morton-White Pass.

“The score was tight in Set 1, and we played tight as well,” Onalaska coach Susan Gordon said. “Just couldn’t get a good rhythm going.”

The Loggers missed seven serves in the first set, but they were able to hold on for the win. That momentum carried over into the second set, where Onalaska started to put things together.

“We came alive and played our game,” Gordon said.

The Loggers didn’t miss another serve the rest of the night, and Gordon was proud to see them get better as the game went along.

“We communicated well, worked together, hustled down some crazy balls, and just played hard,” Gordon said.

Faith Hammer led the way from the service line with five aces, and she also had four kills and two blocks. Emalie Jacoby tallied 16 kills and 13 digs, while Braelyn Babb dished out 16 assists. Capri McGraw led the team with 15 digs, Leah Hamilton added 11, and Anna Johnston finished with three kills.

Ryelin Wiedenmann led the Timberwolves with 18 digs and three aces, while Malia Armstrong added 16 digs defensively.

“We came out with a lot of energy which I loved to see,” Morton-White Pass coach Jamie Brazil said. “We just had trouble carrying that energy over to each set. We really had trouble winning rallies tonight, which made it hard to keep the momentum on our side.”

Both teams will be right back at it on Tuesday, as Onalaska (9-3, 3-1 C2BL) will return home to host Winlock, while Morton-White Pass (5-5, 1-2 C2BL) will remain home to host Mossyrock.
