If nature calls, there are few better places to answer than at Maximilian Motorsports in Chehalis.

That’s according to the “America’s Best Restroom” contest, where the Bishop Road business is currently a finalist in a national competition offered by Cintas Corporation.

The business, which is owned by Maximilian Macdonald and has been in Lewis County for nearly 30 years, has big competition that includes Lambeau Field, the home of the Green Bay Packers, and the Kansas City Zoo and Aquarium, among others.

Contest organizers described the restroom at Maximilian Motorsports as a “stunning fusion of luxury and automotive passion, with every wall featuring iconic and unique automotive memorability meaningful to the owner and the shop. A standout feature is the sink and faucet, repurposed from a Peugeot rally car.

“The faucet’s robust, utilitarian design reflects the rugged performance and reliability of rally cars. Upcycled license plates cover the walls, and the coat rack is adorned with Mercedes emblems. Every element has been thoughtfully selected to immerse visitors into the world of automotive excellence.”

The annual contest celebrates businesses that develop and maintain innovative restroom facilities. After receiving submissions from the public for candidates, Cintas selected the top 10 finalists based on cleanliness, visual appeal, innovation, functionality and unique design elements, according to a news release.

The winner will be placed in the America’s Best Restroom Hall of Fame and receive a Cintas UltraClean restroom cleaning service and $2,500 in facility services or restroom cleaning from Cintas.

This is the 23rd year of the contest.

“We are thrilled to announce this year’s finalists, each showcasing a commitment to cleanliness, functionality and innovative design,” said John Rudy, senior director of marketing at Cintas. “Well-maintained facilities play a vital role in customer satisfaction and retention. These finalists excel in both hygiene and design to create an outstanding restroom experience for all.”’

Additional finalists include: Hop Shops, Florence, Kentucky; Indiana Caverns, Corydon, Indiana; MAD, Houston, Texas; Maverik – America’s First Stop, Salt Lake City, Utah; Morning Glory, San Diego, California; Natchez Trace State Park Visitor Center, Wildersville, Tennessee; and Throne Restrooms, Brentwood, Maryland.

Last year, the Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport won the title of having America’s Best Restroom.

The winner will be chosen by an online vote, which can be accessed at https://www.bestrestroom.com/. Voting concludes Aug. 16. The winner will be announced in the fall.
