Oak Bagels + Coffee will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony in celebration of its grand opening earlier this month.
After months of preparation, Oak Bagels + Coffee is open, serving coffee and bagels to customers from around Lewis County.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at noon on Friday, May 30, at 1336 SW McFadden Ave. in Chehalis.
Oak Bagels + Coffee is a concept that owners Lance and Megan Bunker and their family have wanted to make a reality for several years.
“My husband and I and our four kids have been chatting about opening a community space with real, fresh offerings. Once we started discussing it with others, Oak Bagels + Coffee took shape,” Megan Bunker said.
What sets Oak Bagels + Coffee apart from other coffee shops is its handmade sourdough bagels, she said.
“Our baker, Michelle, has spent the past two years fine tuning the 24-hour process,” Megan Bunker said. “Every bagel is made in house from our starter, Aldough Rye. The dough goes through mixing, kneading, bulk ferment, shaping and a 12-hour refrigeration to develop the unique flavor. It is then boiled and baked fresh every morning. We have been selling out quickly, once the bagels are gone for the day, they're gone.”
Oak Bagels + Coffee serves unique bagels, spreads and bagel sandwiches, from jalapeno popper bagels to their hot mama spread. The coffee shop also has a variety of drinks to choose from, including custom lattes, smoothies and kombucha on tap. Their coffee is locally sourced from Mint City Coffee.
“At Oak Bagels + Coffee, you can see the care that goes into running the shop, from the time and effort put into making the bagels, to the fact that the shop is family owned and operated,” the Centralia-Chehalis Chamber of Commerce stated in a news release. “To try out Chehalis’ newest coffee and bagel shop and celebrate the opening of Oak Bagels + Coffee, join the Centralia-Chehalis Chamber of Commerce at Oak Bagels + Coffee’s ribbon-cutting.”
The Centralia-Chehalis Chamber of Commerce hosts ribbon-cutting ceremonies for local businesses that are expanding, rebranding or celebrating significant milestones. These ceremonies are open to both members and non-members of the chamber.
