Rainier beats Winlock in 8-man game

The Mountaineers bulldozed their way to over 300 rushing yards in a rare C2BL 8-man game in beating Winlock 54-34 on Friday night in Winlock.

Due to the Cardinals (0-5, 0-3 C2BL East) having some injuries and other factors, this game and next week’s contest versus Morton-White Pass are being played as 8-man games and will count towards league standings.

Rainier (3-2, 2-1) was paced by Dorien Cano carrying the ball 15 times for 140 yards. It will host Toledo next week in an attempt to pull off the upset. Winlock’s Landen Cline was responsible for all five of its touchdowns, four of them on the ground.

Cline finished the night with over 275 yards of total offense. There were 17 combined penalties in the game.
