Seniors at The Colonial Residence at Stillwaters knit for a cause in Centralia

Posted

Every Thursday afternoon, The Colonial Residence at Stillwater's cozy Knitting Circle comes to life with the click-clack of needles and the warmth of community spirit.

At 1 p.m. sharp, a group of dedicated seniors gathers to create beautiful, handmade scarves for a cause close to their hearts: helping low-income seniors in Lewis County stay warm during the colder months.

These skilled knitters pour their time, talent and love into each scarf, knowing that their creations will bring comfort to others.

"It's nice to feel useful and know we're doing something that makes a difference," shared one member of the group. "Knitting is a great way to relax, but it's even better when we know our scarves will help others stay warm."

This project is more than just a weekly activity; it’s a heartfelt mission.

Each scarf represents the kindness and generosity of our community, as well as a simple reminder that even a small act of warmth can make a big difference. As the cold season approaches, these seniors are busy knitting away, ensuring that the scarves are ready to be distributed to those in need.

“The Colonial Residence is proud of its residents and their dedication to helping others,” the independent living center wrote in a news release. “The Knitting Circle is always welcoming new members, too — so if you’re interested in joining this wonderful group, grab your needles and yarn, and come make a difference with us. Together, we can spread warmth and kindness, one stitch at a time.”
