Spc. Robert David Lund, U.S. Army, 24, known best to his family and friends as "Bobby", a resident of Chehalis, died March 23, 2004 during a Military exercise in the Florida Keys.

Specialist Robert D. Lund born in Centralia, WA on November 19, 1979 and graduated from W.F. West High School in Chehalis, WA. He began his service to our Nation on January 10, 1997 when he enlisted in the Army National Guard and served with L Company, 1st Battalion, 168th Aviation (AVIM) at Camp Murray, WA. On July 1, 1998 he entered Active Duty and completed the 68J, Armament/Missile Systems Repairer Advanc-ed Individual Training (AIT) as the Honor Graduate at Fort Eustis, VA on December 4, 1998.

Upon completing AIT, SPC Lund was assigned to D Company, Aviation Maintenance, 82d Aviation Brigade at Fort Bragg, NC. While assigne d with the All Americans, SPC Lund served a tour in Bosnia-Herzegovina in support of Operation Joint Forge with K Company, 148th Logis-tics Task Force from March 13, 2001 thru September 28, 2001.

In June 2003, SPC Lund was assigned to the 160th Special Operations Avia-tion Regiment (Airborne) at Fort Campbell, KY, and completed the Special Operations Aviation Train-ing Company, Enlisted Qualifications Course in August 2003. Specialist Lund was assigned to B Company, 1/160th SOAR (A) "SIX GUNS" where he served as a member of the Company Armament "Dawgs". While assigned to B Company, SPC Lund again answered our Nation's call to duty by deploying in support of Operation IRAQI FREE-DOM from December 4, 2003 thru March 12, 2004.

SPC Lund was a graduate of the Army Airborne Course, the Survival Evasion, Resistance and Escape (SERE) Level C Course, and the Special Forces Assessment and Selection (SFAS) Course, His awards and decora-tions include the Merit-orious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achieve-ment Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal , and the Global War on Terror-ism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the NATO Medal, the Aviation Badge and the Parachutist Badge.

His family includes: 2 sisters: Mary Lund & fiance, Doug Britton, Puyallup, WA; SSgt. Karen Lund-Edwards & husband, MSgt Gerald Edwards, New Jersey; step sister: Heidi Grate, Florida; father & step mother: David & Carol Lund, Chehalis; mother: Katie Trodahl-Johnson, Chehalis; grandmother: Kay Trodahl, Chehalis; numerous aunts, uncles & cousins in Lewis County.

He was preceded in death by: grandmother: Ruth "Grandma MoMo" Lund and by a grandfather, Bob Trodahl.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 8, 2004 from 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Sticklin Funeral Chapel.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 9, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at Sticklin Funeral Chapel with full Military honors provided by the 160th SOAR(A) Night Stalkers, U.S. Army. Private Inter-ment will follow at Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, WA at 2:00 p.m.
