The Tenino and Centralia volleyball teams took a brief break from league action to face each other on Ron Brown Court on Monday, and the Beavers bounced back from an opening-set loss to win 19-25, 25-15, 28-26, 25-23.

Tenino coach Shauna Carpenter said that she wanted to mix things around, so she moved Kylee Pietrich outside to change up the rotation.

“It was extremely beneficial,” Carpenter said. “They battled tonight.”

Pietrich was effective on the outside, tallying 15 digs, nine kills, and two tips. Jaeleen Woodward was a perfect 28 for 28 from the service line, delivering four aces while adding 18 digs defensively.

Macy Griffis logged 21 assists, seven digs, and six aces, while Katen Burkhardt added 13 assists, eight digs, and six kills without a service error on eight attempts.

Presley Vancheri had a lot of success at the net, as she had six blocks and three kills.

For the Tigers, McKenna Smith led the way with 19 assists, 18 digs, six kills, and four blocks while going 17 for 18 on serves. Hollynn Wakefield was perfect on 18 serves while also going for 16 digs and six kills.

Mikaela Marazita also did well on both sides of the ball, recording 13 digs and 10 kills. Brooklyn Sprague had 16 digs and six kills, while Payton Baumel added seven kills and four blocks.

Both teams will hit the road and return to league play Tuesday, as Tenino (6-6, 2-2 1A Evergreen) will head to Montesano while Centralia (2-8, 0-5 2A EvCo) will travel to Shelton.
