Tenino’s Gore earns top-5 finish at 1A Evergreen Championships

Tenino's Jaxson Gore was one of the best golfers on the course Tuesday in Tumwater Valley, as the senior finished tied for fourth at the 1A Evergreen Championships.

Gore finished the day with an 89, just one stroke back of third and six back of Montesano’s Ayhdn Sauer, who won the tournament.

Joining Gore in the top 10 was Tenino teammate Ethan Baxter, who shot a 92 to finish tied for seventh.

The top four Rochester golfers finished in places 16-19, with Boden Grimm shooting a 109 to lead the Warriors. Wesley Dahl was one stroke back with a 110 in 17th, while Cash Edminster shot a 115 and Jacob Baird a 116.



A pair of Beavers followed in the 20th and 21st spots, as Gage Robinson finished with a 117 while Gavin Derrick added a 118.

The All-League team was not decided at this meet, as conversations are ongoing about what the criteria for the all-league team is, according to coaches and meet officials present.

The Beavers and Warriors will both be back at Tumwater Valley next Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 22 and 23, for the 1A District 4 Tournament.
