The summer barbecue is back: Some Thurston County recreational fire bans lifted

Posted

Thurston County is lifting some recreational fire bans to allow for charcoal or charcoal briquettes to be used specifically for barbecues or related appliances for the same purpose.

Users must set appliances up on non-combustible surfaces.

The update comes after the county banned all recreational fires on July 19, citing weather conditions that caused fire danger to rise.

Residential yard waste burning, all land clearing burning, fire pits, outdoor fireplaces, and the use of charcoal and charcoal briquettes outside of barbecues are all still prohibited.
