The Rochester volleyball team ended its season on a high note on Thursday, as the Warriors earned their first win with a four-set victory over W.F. West, 17-25, 26-24, 26-24, 25-18.

“They finally settled in on the things I knew was there the whole time, but I just couldn’t get out of them,” Rochester coach Bridget Morris said. “I was proud of them as a coach. They played really, really well. They definitely played as a team.”

Morris began the game by honoring her six seniors, Delant Winter, Isabella Masias, Natalie Bennett, Taylor Koehn, Autumn Paige, and Madison Angwood, by putting them all on the floor together to begin the game.

While the Bearcats (2-15, 2-10 2A EvCo) took the first set, the Warriors (1-15, 1-11 2A EvCo) bounced back to win the second and third in extra points, games that Morris said were too close for comfort.

She was proud of them, however, for improving as the night went on, and putting away the fourth set “pretty easily.”

“If they would have played like this all year, we’d be playing for third or fourth,” Morris said.

Winter led the team with 12 kills, though Arissa Lebaron was right behind with 11 of her own. Winter also had three assists and three blocks, while Angwood added three blocks, two assists and two kills.

Alexis DuPont had five aces and three kills, while Natalie Bennett notched three aces and Isabella Masias tallied four kills. Cheyenne Justice led the team in digs.
