The W.F. West boys wrestling team kept rolling through the 2A EvCo, beating Black Hills 60-12 in Chehalis on Wednesday.

“Overall we did pretty well for the most part,” WFW coach Jamie Rakevich said. “Our guys took care of business who needed to. We were just a little more experienced than they were.”

Seven of the Bearcats’ 12 wins came by fall, with Mason McGregor (106), Lewis Allen (120), Adrian Jaimes Montenegro (126), Andrew Snyder (157), Tucker Land (175), Angelo Peters (215) and Andrew Penland (285) all getting pins.

Beau Guyette won by tech fall at 150, and Race Scalici (132), Graysen Serl (144), Kage Homan (165) and Kyle Nowels (190) all won by decision.

Roberto Rivera Jesus (113) and Khristan Brant (138) earned Black Hills’ two wins on the night, both by fall.

W.F. West will wrap up its regular season Thursday at Aberdeen, and can clinch their 11th straight league title with a win.

After that will come the postseason, beginning with sub-Districts in Chehalis on Feb. 3.

T-Birds take dual over Tigers

The Tumwater wrestling team won six of the 11 contested matches on the line Wednesday, but also received three forfeits to increase the gap in a 53-25 win over Centralia in 2A EvCo action.

Carlos Juarez (113),  Mekhi Richardson (157), Josh Matundura (165), Jacob Kaikkonen (175) and Cash Short (190) all won by pin for the T-Bids. Andrew Yocom won by technical fall at 132.

Centralia got wins from Jesus Campos (120), Doba Denetclaw (126), Miles Page (138), Jeremy Frady (144) and Dashba Denetclaw (150).

“Although we lost the dual tonight, our team wrestled their best dual of the year,” Centralia coach Scott Phillips said. “Our wrestlers corrected a lot of positioning issues on their feet, and did a much better job.”
