A violent physical altercation at an outdoor Estacada gathering on Friday night set off a chain reaction of events that ended in a car crash, an arrest and at least one hospitalization, Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office officials said.
Lt. Hayden Sanders told The Oregonian/OregonLive that deputies learned of a car crash in the 48000 street area of Tumalo Mountain Road just before 11 p..m. Deputies arriving at the scene discovered that the driver was taking a friend to the hospital after the friend suffered “serious injuries” in an altercation at a bonfire gathering.
Emergency responders got the injured person to a hospital via Life Flight due to the seriousness of their condition, and deputies drove to the area where the alleged altercation happened.
During their investigation, the deputies found video of the incident and arrested a juvenile suspect who had brass knuckles, Sanders said. It is not known whether the suspect used the brass knuckles on the person who was injured.
Officials didn’t identify the suspect or provide any details about the incident or charges, saying only that deputies booked the person into the Donald E. Long Juvenile Detention Center.
