Cheryl (Lyons) Smith, 62, passed away on June 26, 2024, at home surrounded by her family and friends after a 6-month battle with cancer. Cheryl was born on Jan. 18, 1962, to Richard W. and Elma S. Lyons.
Cheryl grew up and raised her family in Onalaska most of her adult life and later moved to Vancouver, Battle Ground and then made her way back home to Onalaska for the last 20 years. Cheryl loved to cook and bake for the entire family and spend time with her grandkids. She especially loved to entertain her nieces and nephews no matter their age.
Cheryl (Lyons) Smith is survived by her husband, Charles Smith; mother, Elma S. Lyons; her adult children, Fred and Jessica Sturza, Misty Sturza, Corey Sturza, Colton Sturza and Chris Smith; her many grandchildren; her brother; and sisters. Cheryl was preceded in death by her father, Richard W. Lyons Sr.
In the face of Cheryl’s diagnosis, she was able to maintain a positive attitude toward life and maintain her quirky sense of humor and continual joking right up to days before she went to be with her dad.
A graveside service was held on Tuesday, July 2 at 11 am at the Alpha Cemetery, Onalaska.
