The Napavine volleyball team snapped a three-game losing streak on Wednesday, as the Tigers ended their non-league slate with a 25-21, 25-12, 25-21 road win over Morton-White Pass.
Napavine coach Monica Dailey said that on Wednesday, the Tigers played really well as a team, specifically defensively.
In Tuesday’s loss to Adna, Dailey said she saw glimpses of what the defense could look like, and against the Timberwolves, there was more consistency.
“We’ve been working a lot with blocking and coverage behind our blocks,” Dailey said. “Tonight, they did really well. I think it finally sunk in, and they did a lot of really good things.”
Dailey was also pleased with the overall communication, saying the Tigers were talking and moving well for most of the match.
“They were just being really good teammates to each other,” Dailey said.
Jessie McCoy led the tigers with 13 assists, eight kills, and three block kills, while Emily Kang added 19 digs. Kennedy Purvis added eight kills and Stephanie Camacho-Chavez tallied eight digs.
Kang, Lillian Blair, and Lilly Grabianowski were all perfect from the service line.
Dailey also gave a shout out to freshmen Ava Ondong and Mya Garrett, saying that they played excellent defense at the net and that they were ready to go at all times.
Snapping the losing streak was especially important on Wednesday, as the Tigers will go into league play at Toledo on Thursday on a high note.
“It’s really nice for them to put some things together,” Dailey said. “We’ve got a tough league, and we need to make sure we’re limiting our mistakes to the best of our ability. It’s about just putting the importance on going into each game prepared mentally and physically.”
