Pe Ell tops Wahkiakum in five to jump into top two

The Pe Ell Trojans came out on the right side of a five-set thriller Thursday night, as the Trojans topped Wahkiakum 25-11, 26-24, 17-25, 26-28, 15-9.

After a tight first four sets, including two that went to extra points, the Trojans were able to prevent a reverse sweep by taking the fifth.

“The girls never let off the throttle,” Pe Ell coach Jill Engel said. “A lot of pieces that we’ve been working on really came together for us tonight. “

Brookelynn King had a great night serving, delivering seven aces, and she added 15 assists, three digs, and a pair of kills.

Madi Engel added eight kills and four digs, while Karli Phelps tallied 12 digs, three kills, and two aces.

Sophia Milanowski finished with five kills, five digs, three aces, and two blocks, while Peyton Zock had four kills and three blocks. Brynnlee Hoffman recorded six digs, three kills, and three assists, while Emma Kissner finished with 10 digs and Rudy Magruder added 14.

With the win, the Trojans (8-5, 7-2 1B CVL South) jumped Wahkiakum in the standings, as they’re now a half-game up on the Mules. 

They’ve won three in a row and four of five, and they’ll look to continue rolling at Oakville on Tuesday.
