Summer baseball: Late offense powers Dirtbags to blowout win

Posted

Thirteen runs came in the final three innings as the RBI Dirtbags continued their red hot numbers at the plate with a 17-6 victory over the R.A. Long Summer Jacks on Thursday.

Toledo’s Gavin Frewing and Pe Ell’s Blake Howard were two key cogs in the outburst, both notching two hits and driving in a combined five runs.

RBI jumped out to a 4-1 lead thanks to a three-run second, then R.A. Long responded with four runs in the bottom of the sixth. The Dirtbags didn’t make the lead last long as three in the seventh, four in the eighth and six in the ninth put the game out of reach.

The Dirtbags will head to Wyoming for the PNW regional tournament starting next week.

Meanwhile, the RBI Riverpigs were swept in a doubleheader against White Salmon 15-5 and 11-1.
