W.F. West grad and MMA fighter Kayla ‘Killer Kay’ Weed set to make her professional debut later this month

With her amateur mixed martial arts (MMA) record currently at 5-2-0, W.F. West High School graduate Kayla “Killer Kay” Weed is set to make her professional MMA debut later this month in Auburn.

She will fight Hannah “The Shark” Summers of Orlando, Florida, as part of the fight card for Excitefight Fight Night 10.

“It’s expected to be one of the biggest cards of the year,” Weed said in an email to The Chronicle. “I’ve been working hard on improving my skill set and can’t wait to showcase it!”

Summers’ professional MMA record is 0-2-0 while her amateur record is 5-2-1, according to tapology.com.



The MMA matches will begin at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31, at Muckleshoot Casino Resort, located at 2402 Auburn Way S.

After growing up in Adna, Weed was among the first girls to compete in wrestling for W.F. West in 2014 and helped create its girls wrestling team, which had 27 students among its ranks by her senior year, according to previous reporting by The Chronicle.
